With GeoDict and for the first time, a simulation software is used in an ASTM international standard to measure the quality of a material.

The ASTM norm E2814-18 "Standard Specification for Industrial Woven Wire Filter Cloth" covers woven wire filter cloth for industrial use. It introduces standard terms and definitions, observes common technical considerations, and presents alternative acceptance criteria based on a desired pore size, or micron retention capability.

GeoDict simulations are used to determine the particle size retentions of a selection of typical woven wire filter cloth specifications, alongside well-established methods such as bubble point testing, glass bead testing, and the Tittel and Berndt geometric math model.

According to the ASTM norm E2814-18, the values of specific mesh counts and wire diameters obtained through simulation with GeoDict to target flow, pore size, etc. shall be at the base of the acceptance criteria within tolerances agreed with the wire filter cloth supplier. The ASTM norm E2814-18 includes four figures of weaves generated with GeoDict's module WeaveGeo, to illustrate the definitions of double warp plain weave, plain weave, reverse plain weave, and twill weave.

GeoDict can characterize pore size, as well as percolation path(s), surface area, and bubble point pressure.
